Growing up in the New Orleans, with its raw and beautiful character, has helped form Sylvia’s artistic identity. Her paintings display these characteristics in unique combinations that came about after an inspirational and life changing trip to California’s wine country. Sylvia began recycling wine capsules from the tops of wine bottles and incorporates them into her acrylic paintings as a medium for the images. She was drawn to the capsules bright colors, designs, and texture. It is the fusion of acrylic paint, glazes, and wine foils that create her dynamic paintings. 

Sylvia’s paintings are influenced by New Orleans music, architecture, and culture, as well as California’s wine country, where she spends time on a regular basis.
